As many of you know, we have a lot of early mornings in our house.* When I was on morning duty a few weeks ago, I was hanging out in the living room with Claire and Heidi before the sun came up on a Sunday morning. The girls asked to listen to music, and asked if they wanted to have a dance party. I decided to play some They Might Be Giants, a band I loved in high school and college. I thought the girls would love “Istanbul (Not Constantinople) – I was right. We had a little dance party, right there in the living room, and got all sweaty dancing around.
I forgot what a joy it is to completely let loose and dance! We had such fun, we couldn’t stop laughing, until we fell in a heap on the floor, trying to catch our breath. We danced together until the sun came up. It was one of those beautiful, unexpected moments in parenting. Sometimes it takes spending time with your kids to remember what it’s like to be young… Have a lovely weekend, people! xx
Do you dance? Alone, with your partner, or with your kids? Tell me about it! 🙂
*PS – We’re working with a sleep consultant now, and I’m cautiously excited to report that we’ve seen some real improvements! So hopefully no more before-dawn dance parties for us… 😉 Stay tuned for more details!
